There's such a strange feeling about letting go. Letting go of a situation or a person(s) that's been on your back from what you want to do in your life. For some of us, its an easy transition and we can just move on with our lives as if it had never happened. For others, its more complicated. We have to move through our fears and self doubts about leaving someone or something we cared about and just going on, or looking ahead to better times. They could've been longtime friends, lovers or even people you just liked to be around. But regardless, you know that thinking about the aftermath of the conflicts and incidents will get you nowhere; you'll just be spending your time dwelling over something you shouldn't and just leave yourself saddened and vulnerable. This is just a normal part of life that we all have to deal with at some point and most times, its unavoidable. The people you once used to make it through each problem or issue, the people who you once counted on might end up being the people you'll eventually have to let go of. From simple misunderstandings to outright feuds, both sides know that sometimes the best answer is the hardest: letting go.

At first everything is hazy, you're still hurting from the schism. That person you once relied on is now someone you have to let go and ignore. No longer heralded by the bonds of friendship but more partitioned by the divide between. They say time heals all wounds, indeed, but sometimes the wound cannot be handled so simply. You're going to have to move past it, in another direction while the others move in their own direction. At times the thoughts of it being avoided run through your mind; scenarios of how it could've gone zoom through your mind like bullets on a battlefield. Sometimes you tell yourself that eventually it'll take care of itself and it'll all be alright soon and sometimes...that can be true. But for this...it may and it may not; but you know you shouldn't hold your breath.

What you just have to remember is that this isn't the end of your happiness and the beginning of hard times; not permanently at least. Think of it more as a transition between the old and new, where everything is different and confusing; things you haven't quite managed to get a hold of. You've got time ahead of you to make the changes that you need to resuscitate yourself and move on. No matter the hardship or the issue, you'll be able to prevail. There are others for you to bond with, to help fill that wound that time could not heal. Yes, it will hurt for a time no matter how angry or sad you were, regardless the bonds are still there. The history that once was can still resonate through your mind as they weren't all bad times, some of them were even some of the best of your life. You know that in time, the pain will go away and life's eyes will open to you once more, enabling you to smile once again.

Our lives are always going to filled with turmoils and pains such as these. Some of us find ways to cope while others are lost beneath its crushing weight. We must look for ways to move on past these problems and issues in some capacity as sticking with them will only keep us from healing. To move forward is harder than stepping back or standing still. As in life and in practice, sometimes the hardest things aren't trying to hold on....

...sometimes its letting go.
I've decided to try something new since some people who like my critiques ask me to write something. So I figure, why not?
